Walk with us May 25th

Vigorous exercise for recovering heart patients was rarely practiced when Toronto Rehab began its Cardiac Rehab program in 1968. When Toronto Rehab’s Rumsey Cardiac Centre (formerly Marina Lodge) was officially opened in October 1980, it was the only building in the world exclusively devoted to the care of heart attack sufferers.

The support of the Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada (CHFC) was critical in advancing Toronto Rehab’s pioneering research and advocacy of walking and exercise. In 1984, CHFC founded the WALK OF LIFE in support of Toronto Rehab’s Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation program and the event has gone on to support organizations across our nation who are dedicated to keeping Canadians’ hearts healthy.

We are excited this year to be celebrating the 35th annual WALK of LIFE with CHFC. Following 15 successful years, our final On Track to Cardiac Recovery fundraising event was held in 2018. This year, we are inviting On Track supporters to join us on Saturday May 25, 2019 at the Ontario Science Centre for WALK OF LIFE.

The Toronto Blue Jays ‘Ace’ mascot will join in the fun that includes a Kids Fun Run, 3 walk/run distance options plus a BBQ Lunch and many other features and activities. Register today at www.walkoflife.ca (be sure to select Team Toronto Rehab) or contact Vanessa Sousa at 416-597-3422 ext. 3742 or vanessa.sousa@uhn.ca for more information. Your participation on Team Toronto Rehab in this popular community event will be directed to our world-leading cardiac program.
