Education at Toronto Rehab fosters creativity, critical thinking and the sharing of ideas to enable personal growth and professional development.

Toronto Rehab strives to facilitate life-long learning and to incorporate strong educational components into each of its seven clinical programs. Central to its identity as a major teaching hospital is sharing its knowledge and enthusiasm for discovery with a new generation of caregivers, scientists and therapists.

Toronto Rehab's commitment to ongoing education is reflected in many ways, including:
  • strong partnerships with educational institutions;
  • innovative models of learning;
  • success in attracting students who want to make a difference in people’s lives;
  • exemplary patient and public education programs; and
  • status as a trusted source of knowledge to others.

Learn more about:

  • Living With/Living Well, a free public education series designed to provide you with the latest health information and research and to empower you to make positive choices and changes to improve your health and quality of life.
  • Heart Health for Life presented by Scotiabank, an innovative, interactive alumni program designed to help graduates of Toronto Rehab's Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Program continue to live heart healthy lifestyles.

Toronto Rehab is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. Every year more than 1,000 students from more than 40 educational institutions complete part of their clinical training at Toronto Rehab. These students and residencies range in discipline from physiatrists (physicians specializing in physical and rehabilitation medicine) and physiotherapists, to nurses and other healthcare specialists.

A partnership with University of Toronto has resulted in Canada's first university-based rehabilitation nursing course - a field of nursing specialty as recognized by the Canadian Nurses Association.

To support the essential role of education in rehabilitation, and renewal and innovation in the health care system, private donations are necessary to augment government funding and meet program needs. A gift to education at Toronto Rehab will bring new hope and possibility to shattered lives, now and far into the future.
